DANIELLE O'CONNOR AKLYAMA
Danielle is a Toronto-based artist who has been painting for 30 years and has received numerous awards. Working in a variety of media, Danielle creates luminous floral images that vibrate with life, energy and colour - whether a riotous crowd of flowers or a single magnificent bloom. She calls her paintings “sanctuaries for the soul” and with a background rooted in art therapy, her understanding of psychology has clearly had a profound influence on her work.
Danielle’s style is loose and impressionistic but she believes in the importance of each brush stroke. To gain a deeper understanding of her craft and master the technical skills of brushwork she studied sumi-e (Japanese brush painting). A distinctive fusion of eastern and western artistry make her work highly prized by collectors on both sides of the Pacific.
